‘Colon-aid’ the Yeovil District Bowel Cancer Support Group

               HOME
Welcome, our Support Group is for people diagnosed with colorectal cancer who were or are being treated at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust or those who have moved into our area.  Other ostomates are welcome to join us and this has led to us adopting the style ‘Colon-aid’ the Yeovil District Bowel Cancer Support Group. The patient’s carers (family or friends) are an important part of our group.
Our name derives from the hospital name and bowel cancer; bowel cancer being the commonly used term for colon or colorectal cancer. The charity Colon Cancer Concern was renamed in autumn 2005 to Bowel Cancer UK to address confusion around the name of the disease. It is easier for most of us to talk about bowels and bottoms rather than colons and rectums. The charity beating bowel cancer Web Site has some really good pages on ‘Bottoms’ including ‘Talking about your bottom’ and ‘When bottoms go wrong’.
Our Web Site is not intended to be all embracing, it is a ‘window’ with links to related sites and many thousands of pages dealing with all aspects of coping with cancer from diagnosis to treatment and post treatment. The linked sites contain their own links so you should be able to find all the information you need.
