‘Colon-aid’ the Yeovil District Bowel Cancer Support Group
Awareness of Support Group by YDH inpatients
Stan commented that when visiting Hazel in YDH other ostomates in the ward were not aware of the existence of our group. Maggie explained that the patient diaries of all colorectal cancer patients include our group information leaflet. Other ostomates would not receive the leaflet.
Raffle/Refreshment Money
A raffle of prizes donated by group members was held during the “Party” break this raised £18 that was passed to Rowland to defray some of his expenses in providing services for the group in line with the policy agreed earlier.
Refreshment donations raised £17 this was passed to St Margaret’s at the end of the meeting as Gift Aid allowing the Hospice to claim tax back. Future donations will be handled the same way.
Cream Tea Event Money
Our Cream Tea afternoon had raised £900 after deducting expenses. Rowland had produced A4 sized “Presentation Cheques” for £300 each for YDH Oncology Unit, YDH Colorectal Stoma Care Department and St Margaret’s Hospice, Yeovil. These would be used for publicity photos when the group presented the donations. Stan was arranging for issue of the “real cheques” and he and Rowland will liaise to arrange a mutually convenient time and place for the presentation.
