Minutes of the 15th  Colorectal Cancer Patient Support Group held on Friday 19 October 2007 at  St Margaret’s in Yeovil

Welcome
The group was pleased to welcome Tom and Ivy as new members. They became aware of our group through attendance at the YDH Oncology Unit where Rowland provided details of the group and invited them to come along and meet fellow patients and carers.
The group was pleased to welcome Consultant Radiologist Dr Jeremy Hacking as our guest speaker.

Matters Arising
Future Guest Speakers
Still outstanding from last meeting:-
1. Diet – Rowland had contacted YDH for a speaker to cover advice on dealing with constipation, diarrhoea, wind, etc.  No response as yet from YDH Action outstanding
2. Bereavement – Rowland to contact Macmillan with a view to setting up a one day workshop on “Dealing with Loss and Bereavement”. Macmillan usually requires a minimum number of 12 for their workshops. Action outstanding

Cream Tea Event Money
Rowland reported that he had presented our £300 cheques to YDH Colorectal/Stoma Care Department (photo added to Web Site) and YDH Oncology (Macmillan) Unit.

Colorectal/Stoma Care Department
It is believed that the department is still without a secretary.

Web Site
Rowland reported that the Web Site had been updated to add the minutes of the last meeting and photographs of the cheque presentations to St Margaret’s Hospice and YDH Colorectal/Stoma Care Department.

Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker Dr Jeremy Hacking a Consultant Radiologist at YDH gave a very interesting presentation covering the role of “Radiology in the diagnosis and follow up of colorectal cancer”.
