Welcome
Welcome to our 20th meeting I am sad to report the passing of Barry Pitkin on the 3rd March 2008 at St Margaret’s Hospice, Yeovil.
I was not aware of this until after the funeral so our group was not represented. Barry joined our group in March 2007 and photographs taken at our 1st Birthday Party in August 2007 show Barry enjoying the cake and conversations with other members. There were no new members at this meeting.
Matters Arising
We have had a letter from Macmillan Support confirming “The Loss and Bereavement Workshop” for Friday 13th June 2008. A list of attendees and arrangements for lunch time refreshments will be covered at our May Meeting. Note this is an additional date for June it does not replace our 27th June meeting.
We have had a letter of thanks from St Margaret’s for our donation of £18.50 raised at our February meeting.
We have had an invoice from 1&1 for £35.18 to cover our 6 monthly subscription for the web site.
We have received a copy of Macmillan Support’s Spring 2008 Exchange newsletter.
April 2008 Bowel Cancer Awareness (BCA) Day: Maggie Soulsby has arranged an Awareness Day on Tuesday 22nd April 2008 at the Wessex Suite, Westland Leisure Complex, Westbourne Close, Yeovil, BA20 2DD. A copy of the Poster with details of the event and a map are attached to these minutes. Colin May has arranged for the Western Gazette to run a half page Bowel Cancer Awareness feature with sponsored advertising to run a week before the event. Colin brought along an example feature article and the editorial text he had prepared for the BCA Day these were passed round the group and endorsed by Maggie.
