The event has been publicised in the local newspapers and posters have been put up at various locations in YDH. Debra & Colin advised that they had provided posters to friends who worked at Westland and it was hoped that some staff would come along during their lunch break.
Debra, Heather and Rowland will arrive at Westland at 8.00am to assist Maggie set up her display stands and then our support group stand. Stan and Hazel will arrive later and assist with the raffle.

Rowland reported that the Web Site had been updated to add the minutes of the last meeting and add new pages covering Travel Insurance and photographs taken at the social evening.

We received a letter from St Margaret’s Hospice thanking us for our donation of £12 raised at our March meeting.

Guest Speaker
Rowland gave a presentation of information on Travel Insurance available for people with a history of cancer and/or other ‘pre-existing conditions’. This topic had been covered briefly at our 5th meeting in December 2006.
Introduction
As requested at the last meeting I visited the Yeovil Office of Equity Insurance brokers to enquire about travel insurance for people with a history of cancer. They advised it was not possible to discuss this in general terms as the insurance companies required a detailed medical history of an individual before deciding whether to offer cover or not. Subsequent to this I made enquiries with the CAB and they identified a number of web sites that might be of help. A ‘google’ search on the Internet for ‘Travel Insurance Cancer’ returned about 236,000 results! This presentation will cover just 7 of them.
ia the Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Support Group
Their web site has a page on travel insurance that lists companies that many of their members had obtained satisfactory cover from at reasonable costs. They also mentioned it was worth regular travellers considering Annual Travel Insurance cover and useful contacts for this were Barclays Bank, Churchill Insurance and Marks & Spencer.
Copies of the web page were passed on to members.
