(Continued) We have reviewed the Macmillan Good Practice Guideline booklets for support groups to ensure we develop the group in line with good practice principles. Key points are:- • We share clear aims and objectives • We run our activities according to our member’s needs • We welcome everyone equally • We make sure that everyone understands and respects confidentiality • We listen to each other and respond with sensitivity • We provide accurate practical information, but do not give advice or make recommendations The way the group develops will depend on who we attract to our meetings and what the group decides we should do to satisfy the needs of individuals and the group. Guest speakers will be invited to some meetings to talk on topics chosen by members. Back Page 2
