Roger’s story continued
Friends react very differently as you might expect. Some very helpfully and others not so, though all mean well. Probably the most irritating are those who tell you of friends of theirs who have had exactly the same thing and are now as right as rain, so don’t worry!

We had smashing help from the whole hospital team at Yeovil both during surgery and chemotherapy. My wife handled the colostomy very well and indeed said her bowels had never been as comfortable when they were still intact! The stoma nurses are angels.

Yes you forget, except when a check appointment and scan is due and then if all clear you forget again. My wife had a second scan recently as they were unhappy with the first, there was a strange appearance in the bone. Fortunately she was given the all clear but in the weeks between scans one felt that again one was staring into an abyss.

We both can talk freely with each other and family and friends, it helps so much.

We know too what is important in life and how precious is good health.

Go on with life as you both feel you want too.
